Orbital ATK is currently seeking a Program Manager II on our Specialty Products team in our Propulsion Systems Division in Promontory,Utah.
Role Description & Responsibilities:
The Program Manager will be responsible for managing the Hydra 70 2.75" illumination flare product line to include Baseline Qualification/First Article Testing and production under an existing contract. This is the largest single program inside of Specialty Products. The program implements high rate lean manufacturing principles to build 300-500 units per shift. The PM will be responsible for delivering expected safety, quality, schedule, financial, and technical performance. The PM is also responsible for sustaining the product line by introducing new technologies and capabilities to maintain our position as the sole provider of this product. This position includes interface with customers, VSETs, suppliers and functional organizations to meet program commitments.
Job Duties:
Program Execution
Execute programs successfully by managing safety, quality, schedule and cost (P&L responsibility)
Oversee program planning and execution through applicable phases including concept, exploration, engineering development, advanced development, production, sustainment, and retirement. Continuously drive for results.
Company-Customer Interface
Represent Orbital ATK as a company (bringing the Orbital ATK message to the customer; and integrating knowledge of the spectrum of Orbital ATK capabilities with understanding of customer needs to promote Orbital ATK)
Service the customer (executing the program and resolving issues in accordance with business objectives, strategy, legal requirements, regulations, contract terms, and company policies)
Balance the interests of the customer, Orbital ATK, and employees (ensuring stakeholder objectives are aligned)
Program Team Management
Provide overall leadership and direction to the program team (to include coaching team members, resolving conflict, reviewing performance, and initiating corrective actions, if necessary)
Direct the performance of program functions (such as procurement, manufacturing, quality control, and logistics)
Possess the proven ability to provide verbal and written information clearly, succinctly, and persuasively
Set role and performance expectations, and provide ongoing feedback and performance appraisals
Oversee the development of a program plan and critical milestones
Meet master program plans and schedules (identifying and assessing risks, and initiating necessary corrective action)
Schedule Management
Recognizing schedule risks early and mitigating them
Seeing the broad picture and managing systems to meet customer needs
Understanding how customer requirements and processes influence the schedule
Financial Performance
Manage Budgets and conduct EAC's
Forecast financial performance
Supplier & Subcontractor Management
Manage suppliers and subcontractors (as would manage internal company functions). Identify/set up teaming arrangements.
Contract Structure & Pricing
Manage contract negotiations, endorse final price and contract terms and resolve contract issues
Technical Performance
Drive technical excellence (by setting program standards, challenging threats, balancing risk, and delivering performance)
Business Development (Domestic and International)
Leverage existing programs to win new, expanded business (actively soliciting follow-on business by making timely presentations, maintaining close customer relations, and tracking customer requirements; and transitioning business opportunities to program management)
Strategically plan (directing program strategy development that integrates with Orbital ATK's overall business and strategy; and participating in the business strategic planning process)
Direct proposal preparation (to ensure it meets Orbital ATK business strategy, is compliant, responds to customer needs, and provides a proper base for successful negotiations and program performance)
Experience Requirements:
10 years' experience
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
Program Execution
Demonstrated experience leading teams
General knowledge of financial systems
Successfully managed $5M-$25M in sales annually (Preferred)
Experience managing discretionary budgets (IRAD, B&P, Marketing, Capital) (Preferred)
Experience running proposals and delegations (Preferred)
Bachelors in Engineering or Business

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
