Orbital ATK is currently seeking an experienced Manager of Operations to provide leadership to our Test and Research Operations machine shop team at our Promontory plant.
The Manager of Operations will use long range planning methods to execute to multiple Customer requirements and lead Technical Team Supervisors in the day to day activities of Machinists, Energetic Machinists, Composite / Inert Materials Engineering Techs. The process include Machining of flight components, and critical process tooling. Energetic machining of live propellant samples as well as live rocket motor dissection. Composite winding and tape wrapping of phenolic materials as well as rubber formulations.
Job Duties:
Safety needs to be the top priority/requirement
Creates and sustains a culture of respect and employee engagement
Accountable for short and long range planning for a broad array of requirements, to include cost
Efficiently assigns machinist and techs resources to meet both Customer and Business needs
Creates and maintains a cross functional and agile team of machinists, and techs.
Knows how to use PES to foster and drive a culture of continuous improvement as evidenced through year over year Key Performance Indicator (KPI) improvements
Experience Requirements:
Candidate must have a minimum of 9 years of operations/machining experience.
Propellant manufacturing experience including knowledge of AHOPS and applicable safety procedures
Strong skills in both short and long term planning methods.
Strong skills in visual management
Skills in continuous improvement methods
Skills in Influence methods
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Presentation skills and ability to clearly communicate initiatives, plans and expectations
Computer skills to include
Demonstrated team leadership skills
Experience Preferred:
Management experience with multiple and diverse customer using various technical disciplines
Skills & Qualifications:
Strong safety knowledge
Broad understanding of Rocket Motor Manufacturing / Machining processes.
Strong leadership/people skills
Education/Certifications
BS degree in Engineering preferred. Consideration will be given to candidates with an Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology or related field required.
Certification as a Machinist is highly preferred, as well as energetic materials knowledge, and knowledge of composite / inert material fabrication.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
