Orbital ATK is currently searching for a Technical Operations Planner to work in Process Engineering at our Promontory, UT location.
Job description:
Position requires working collaboratively with Process Engineers and Operations within a manufacturing team. This selected individual will be working under the direction of multiple process engineers, supporting multiple operations within the Promontory Motor Value Stream (PMVS). This area supports Case Prep (grit blast, spray-in-air, paint, primer, adhesives, insulation layup, and liner), WEI, Case Refurbishment for all major Promontory programs.
This Tech Ops Planner position is vital to increase efficiency of the process engineering team by taking responsibility of developing, maintaining, and release of manufacturing work instructions, operations standard work, and basic CAD (computer-aided design) documents for process sketches. Excellent technical writing and computer skills are traits that directly provide successful operational work documents that are utilized daily. Navigation and heavy use of ESI/ePIC, Smart Solve, and MS Office Suite are required software tools.
The technical nature of this position requires evaluation of production materials, tooling, data analysis, and supporting process root cause analysis, sketch creation, all in-collaboration with the responsible process engineer. Other technical roles and responsibilities supporting operations, as determined to support the process engineer will be expected.
Responsibilities include:
Strong written and oral communication skills, as this position is supporting the PMVS team,
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interface with a matrixed organization,
Desire to directly work with operations and flight hardware and with hazardous materials,
Good organizational skills and ability to work with minimal direction in a dynamic environment,
Strong attention to detail,
Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence.
Use of Electronic Shop Work Instructions (ESI), navigate ePIC, basic CAD tool(s), MS Office Suite, and Smart Solve,
Identify, specify, and implement manufacturing process improvements,
Comprehend the SLS configuration management and change control protocols in support of OCN/OCR (Operations Change Notice/Operation Change Request) protocols,
Develop and maintain Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM),
Familiar with HOPS (Hazardous Operations Standard) and HA (Hazards Analysis) methods for Energetic Materials,
Familiar with Orbital ATK handling practices for safely moving hardware/tooling,
Use of MAXIMO for process tool support (TDR ? Tool Discrepancy Report),
Blueprint/drawing comprehension is a plus.
Requirements:
2 years minimum relevant operations experience in a manufacturing environment,
2 year associates degree or enrolled a plus,
Excellent communicator,
Works well in a team that including cross-functional matrixed organizations,
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and strong oral and written communications skills,
Demonstrated organization and multitasking skills,
Desire to work in a manufacturing environment.
Must be willing to receive direction and provide timely response to your process engineering lead,
Ability to work independently and organize/prioritize job assignment tasks,
Position may be filled at one level lower with 0 ? 2 years related experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
